Starting February 2, New England Public Media is welcoming journalist Carrie Saldo to its lineup with a new weekly radio show and podcast, The Rundown with Carrie Saldo. The show promises engaging conversations with reporters from across western Massachusetts.

Saldo’s extensive experience has touched various media platforms, from podcasts to print, including hosting Connecting Point on NEPM-TV and appearing on All Things Considered. The Rundown follows NPR’s Morning Edition on 88.5 NEPM (WFCR) on Friday mornings with different perspectives, analysis, and context on local and national events.

The show’s format also includes in-depth interviews and features with local newsmakers and community leaders.

This new program stems from NEPM’s initiative to bolster its local journalism following a 2022 audience survey, which led to the moving the group’s classical music to the Classical NEPM network and the launch of The Fabulous 413.

NEPM Director of Content Tony Dunne stated, “Carrie is one of the region’s most respected journalists, and The Rundown will be imprinted with her expertise, curiosity, and joy for uncovering and sharing stories about western Mass.”

Saldo quipped, “Forget artificial intelligence. Our guests on The Rundown will serve up actual intelligence. Can the same be said for me? Well, you should listen and let me know.”

NEPM President Matt Abramovitz said, “Trustworthy local news and journalism is not only our promise on 88.5 NEPM, but also an essential for everyone in western Mass. We hope that the addition of The Rundown with Carrie Saldo, which will bring together the region’s most insightful reporters with one of its most talented hosts, will further strengthen the local news ecosystem and benefit all of us.”
