Spotify Focuses On In-Home Streams With TV App Redesign

0

Spotify has updated its TV app to align more closely with its mobile app. The revamped interface features a “Now Playing View” on the home page and includes shortcuts to recently played content. The app will now also recommend new songs and podcasts directly on the main screen, tailored to the user’s listening history.

One of the notable changes in the TV app is the ability to switch between different Spotify accounts. The most recently active profile will be displayed in the top right corner, facilitating quick account changes. The update also introduces the “Playback Queue” tool, allowing users to choose their next songs, and a dark mode for TV, reducing screen brightness and visuals.

This update, available to both free and premium subscribers on supported Smart TVs, gaming consoles, and media devices, is the streamer’s latest movie in multiplatform competition, especially as SiriusXM ramps up its “Next Generation” content for 2024.
