Radio lost a little ground to YouTube when it comes to music discovery, according to Infinite Dial 2017. Friends and family remains the number one source for music discovery (68%), YouTube came in second (64%), with AM/FM radio dropping to third (63%). Pandora was a distant fourth (48%) and Facebook (41%) was fifth. So how do these numbers compare to 2016?

The 12th annual Midwest Communications Radiothon for Kids raised more than $300,000 for Chilrdren’s Miracle Network and Sanford Children’s Hospital. The 24-hour radiothon on 92.5 KTWB, Q95-7, 101.9 KELO-FM, and 103.7 KRRO featured a first-of-its-kind challenge from an anonymous donor, who challenged the community of Sioux Falls to rally and surpass the previous year’s amount by $25,000.

KZIO-FM in Two Harbors, MN, is being sold from Red Rock Radio to Minnesota Public Media. Red Rock Radio, lead by Kathy Lau and Shawn Skramstad, also owns three stations in Minnesota. MPR, a regional operation of American Public Media Group, is lead by Jon McTaggart, and owns over 40 stations in Minnesota and the surrounding areas. KALIL & CO. was the exclusive broker for this transaction.
