Daniel Anstandig's Futuri Media has acquired StreamOn, a company that specializes in streaming, podcasting, and social media for radio. StreamOn co-founder Andrew Snook becomes VP of Streaming Systems at Futuri. The terms of the deal were not announced.

Edison Research will unveil the results of a new study on podcasting in a keynote address July 24 at Podcast Movement in Philadelphia. Edison says the new information will "provide a research-based road map for the podcasting industry to grow audience and increase exposure to podcasts." Spotify experienced a financial hit of €39 million linked to its podcast ventures and the termination of several high-profile contracts, according to the company's Q2 financials. The streamer has been scaling back its podcast division after allocating millions to its expansion.

Public radio station KUTX (98.9 FM) in Austin is celebrating its 10th year as a full-power broadcaster. The music station launched in January 2013 after sister-station KUT (90.5 FM) became a full-time news and information outlet.

After the passing of the music icon, SiriusXM is bringing back the David Bowie Channel to honor his career and life. The exclusive, limited-run channel, which originally aired in 2013, will feature music from Bowie's entire career, from his earliest recordings through his most recent release Blackstar, as well as rare tracks and demo versions of some of Bowie's greatest songs. The David Bowie Channel will run now through January 18 on SiriusXM's The Loft, channel 30.

As the debate over artificial intelligence in the music curation process continues, Spotify has introduced an AI tool designed to craft playlists based on user-provided text prompts. This new feature for paid subscribers aligns with Spotify’s prior venture with its AI DJ, X.
