NPR’s College Podcast Challenge Returns For Scholarship Chance

0

NPR has reintroduced its College Podcast Challenge, offering students the opportunity to share their stories while competing for a $5,000 grand prize scholarship. The contest is now open for entries until January 5, 2024, providing an entire academic term for students to develop their podcast projects.

NPR has also extended the eligibility criteria to include recent graduates who have completed their degrees earlier in 2023.

Unlike NPR’s Student Podcast Challenge for younger age groups, college students can submit their work independently, without requiring submission via a professor or mentor. The contest allows for a variety of formats and topics, from narrative storytelling to investigative reporting. However, all entries must adhere to an eight-minute maximum length.

As part of the initiative, NPR has released an array of podcasting resources to assist participants in various aspects such as topic selection, voice modulation, and audio editing. Additionally, NPR encourages students to listen to The Students’ Podcast for more tips and tricks on podcast creation.
