Indiana sports broadcasting legend Sam Simmermaker has announced his retirement at the age of 92, after a 64-year career with White River Broadcasting in Columbus. Simmermaker's final daily sports updates will air on May 24.

He's led and managed broadcast play-by-play sales teams for the NY Mets, NY Giants, and NY Yankees. He also spent two years as GSM at a rock station in Connecticut.

WCCO Minneapolis afternoon co-host Jordana Green announced she has Leukemia. Green, who's been with the station for nearly a decade, let her listeners know by calling into the show she hosts with Paul Douglas.

Jeff Adams has been named GM for Hometown Broadcasting's Portsmouth, Ohio, stations WNXT-FM, WNXT-AM, and WZZZ-FM. Adams spent the past seven years with West Virginia Radio as operations manager of their seven-station cluster in Charleston, and most recently, station manager of their threestations in Martinsburg.

Cumulus Media Cincinnati has announced the addition of industry veteran Chris Elliott to its programming team for two stations. Elliott now assumes the Program Director mantle for Cat Country 94.1 (WNNF) and 92.5 The Fox (WOFX).

On November 19, the Minnesota Farmers’ Union named Hoffmann the 2016 Agriculture Communicator of the Year for excellence in agricultural reporting for the television, radio, print, and Internet media.
