Nebraska Broadcasters Induct Thorell Into Hall

The Nebraska Broadcasters Association has inducted Dave Thorell into its Hall of Fame, which was established in 1972. He becomes the 97th member and will be inducted in a ceremony on August 16 during the 82nd Annual Convention in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Radio’s Digital Ratings Product is Ready

The radio industry has been eagerly and patiently waiting for a ratings system that can accurately measure over-the-air listening and online listening -- data that needs to be easily presentable and understandable to advertisers. Nielsen has been testing its online audio ratings product for many months, and Thursday the company announced the service is ready to go. Radio stations will have their first taste of presentable data in May.

Pandora Will Not Be Measured

Not right away anyway. And that had been one of the biggest concerns from the Radio industry, which may have even held up this product being released until now. The radio industry, of course, is a huge customer of Nielsen's and was not in favor of having Pandora alongside radio in the ratings with Pandora being so aggressive coming after radio's revenue.

That was another big question between the radio industry and Nielsen. And while there certainly wasn't a lot of money being made with ad insertion (and many online commercial breaks sounded downright awful with loads of PSA's and clunky transitions back to music) the industry was, at least, attempting to cover some of the high costs to stream. Spotify Settles Licensing Dispute

Both The New York Times and The Verge have the details about the settlement about mechanical licensing rights, which refer to a copyright holder’s control over the ability to reproduce a musical work. Spotify will pay over $20 million to music publishers to settle. The money will pay for royalties already owed but unpaid, and a $5 million penalty. In return, publishers will not file copyright infringement claims against Spotify

Nielsen’s Jon Miller In Serious Ski Accident

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Miller who, according to his friend Art Wright, fell about 900 feet while skiing in New Hampshire on Sunday. Miller was helped by other skiers to a Ranger station and then medivac'ed to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital. Wright says Miller's injuries are severe and his recovery will be a long one. Miller and his wife Elisa have two children. She is also 34 weeks pregnant. Miller is Nielsen's VP of Audience Insights

Hudson Gets REAL In L.A.

iHeartMedia Los Angeles has named Anne Hudson VP of Sales for KRRL REAL 92.3. KRRL is iHeart's Hip Hop station in Los Angeles. Hudson moves to L.A. from iHeartMedia Chicago, where she was sales manager for WGCI, WVAZ, and Inspiration 1390. Prior to Chicago, she held management positions in Los Angeles and San Francisco at 106.1 KMEL and Wild 94.9.

Khatija Mohiuddin Named LSM For iHeart Chicago

Mohiuddin will be responsible for sales at 93.9 MYfm, BIG 95.5, V103, 103.5 KISS FM, 107.5 WGCI, Inspiration 1390AM. She replaces Anne Hudson who was just promoted to VP of Sales for iHeart's KRRL REAL 92.3 in Los Angeles. Most recently, Mohiuddin was an AE at WTMX-FM in Chicago. She began her sales career with iHeartMedia’s 93.9 MYfm in 2005.
