Field To Employees: Stay Focused
In a letter addressed to "Entercom Users," CEO David Field gave an update on the massive merger with CBS Radio. In the letter, filed with the SEC, Field also reminded his employees to stay focused on their jobs as the $1.7 Billion deal heads toward becoming a reality later this year.
Jack Swanson Is Moving On
One of the greatest radio programmers of all time is ready for his next assignment. After two years with KCBS, Jack Swanson is leaving the building. Swanson tells Radio Ink it was entirely his decision. "I feel my mission here is accomplished. KCBS sounds great and the ratings are great. I had a blast these past two years and will miss everyone at CBS. Just time for a new chapter."
Radio One Sells Detroit AM For $2 Million
The sale of news/talk station WCHB-AM is to Crawford Broadcasting and is expected to close this summer. Radio One Detroit Market Manager Kathy Stinehour said, “We view this as an opportunity to move the WCHB voice to a larger FM platform and intend to super-serve our listeners with urban music, community engagement and inspiration – what we do best."
Nevada Public Radio Launches “Discover Music”
The new Reno station is called NV89. The music discovery channel will focus on emerging artists and Nevada musicians. NVPR CEO Florence Rogers said NV89 will complement the current public media offerings available and be a catalyst for new content and partnerships. Mike Henry of Paragon Media Strategies was project consultant for the station.
Marketron Unveils Pitch
The new product is being called a "sales enablement platform and audience extension solution" by Marketron. The goal is to help companies sell digital and traditional media more efficiently.
iHeart Host In Hartford Arrested For Assault
105.9 The River Morning Man Joseph Aguiar is accused of assault at a gas station. According to The Hartford Courant, Aguiar, whose been with the station since 2005, was charged with third-degree assault, third-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace. Former Jailed Mayor Gets Show In Charlotte
The Saturday morning show with former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon is called "At The Table With Cannon." Radio One is giving Cannon the show on Old School 105.3. Cannon spent nearly two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to taking bribes from undercover FBI agents while Mayor. He was released in September 2016 and placed on house arrest until January 2017.
iHeart Bulks Up Digital Department
Donna Pickett joins the company as Executive VP of Marketing for Digital Products. Pickett worked for Time Life for over 20 years. As Senior VP she headed Subscriber Marketing for the music business, among other marketing and management roles. Most recently she was VP of Performance Based Media at Cannella Response Television.
Steele Becomes An Alpha PD
Alpha Media in San Antonio has hired James Steele as Program Director for 103.3 The APP (KTFM-HD2). Steele moves to San Antonio from Alpha Media's "107.3 The Monkey" in Biloxi where he currently hosts PM Drive.

The Kevin Jackson Show will join the Genesis Communications Network – home to conspiracy guy Alex Jones – April 17, and air 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central Standard Time, Monday through Friday. The show blends pop culture with politics, and is rich in sarcasm and humor.
