Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and founding member of The Allman Brothers Band, Dickey Betts, is backing the American Music Fairness Act. The AMFA would require radio’s biggest companies to pay royalties for playing music on their stations. Smaller stations would pay a flat fee.

Sirius Revenue Increases 9%

Third quarter earnings season is underway with SiriusXM the first audio company to report. For July, August and September the satellite company reported revenue of $2.2 billion, an increase of 9% over Q3 2020.

How Are Pandora and Stitcher Doing For Sirius?

At Pandora ad revenue increased 32% to $404 million. The increase was aided by the purchase of Stitcher in Q4 of 2020. Monthly Active Users at Pandora were down, ad-supported listener hours were down and premium subscribers were down.

The Indiana Broadcasters Association held its annual “Spectrum” Awards this week and named WOWO 2021 Station of the Year for Radio Market 1, which includes Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and South Bend.
