Rather, it is about accepting the shortest straw, going through the motions, and retreating with a couple of names of on-air talent who just might not screw everything up. There is also an overtly accepted presumption that modern radio managers could even recognize potential talent when they heard it.

Cumulus Dallas Hauls in $443K For Kids

Cumulus Dallas stations KSCS-FM and KPLX-FM joined together for a two day broadcast to raise money for Cook Children’s Medical Center in Texas. Talent from each station took to their microphones together, in a simulcast Country for the Kids Radiothon and raised $443,757.

Suspects Arrested In Texas For Oklahoma Radio Tower Destruction

Authorities in Paris, TX have arrested two suspects they believe are linked to the destruction of an Oklahoma radio tower. On Tuesday, the tower for K95.5 (KITX) was destroyed after a guy-wire was cut, collapsing the structure to gain its copper wiring.

FCC Names New Audio Division Chief

Peter Doyle (pictured) has been Audio Division Chief at The FCC for nearly 17 years. He'll turn over the reigns to Albert Shuldiner and become a Senior Advisor during the transition. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said, "Peter’s sixteen-and-a-half year run as Division Chief has been truly outstanding. He worked tirelessly to ensure fair and efficient licensing of the radio service."

College Radio Society Launches

The College Radio Foundation has launched the College Radio Society, a national organization for college radio students, alumni and supporters. Membership starts at $3 a month, and members are encouraged to participate in the society's Facebook group.
