A company called Podtrac is now releasing a monthly ranking of podcasts based on unique monthly audience in the United States and unique downloads globally. NPR's 32 podcasts topped the April ranker.

Veteran executives Erin Callaghan, Jamie Moffat, Curtis Qualls, and Tina Segerstrom have joined the sales division of tech company Futuri Media. All will hold the title of Account Manager.

It’s a spin-off! NPR is launching The Indicator from Planet Money, a new podcast that brings insight and context to the worlds of business and economics. The Indicator takes the signature Planet Money storytelling approach and delivers it faster, in shorter podcasts, more frequently.

It’s called What Really Happened? and is produced by Seven Bucks Productions, co-founded by Dany Garcia and Dwayne Johnson, together with Cadence13, a creator of premium, on-demand audio entertainment. The show will be hosted and co-produced by award-winning filmmaker and documentarian, Andrew Jenks.

The partnership provides for the creation of original, non-event audio content by the familiar, hometown radio voices associated with some of the nation’s most recognizable collegiate athletic programs.

A distribution agreement between TuneIn and Live365 has been worked out. Live365 broadcasters can now access TuneIn On Air distribution as part of Live365's premium packages or as an add-on to any other package.

Podcasting and on-demand industry newsletter Podnews has acquired Streamline Publishing’s Podcast Business Journal. Podnews has operated a free daily newsletter covering news, jobs, and events since 2017. Streamline Publishing started PBJ in 2018.

Digital broadcasting platform VoiceAmerica is launching a new channel dedicated to sports and wagering backed by sports betting network VSiN. The VoiceAmerica Sports and Gaming Channel aims to cater to the rising demand for sports betting content

Audio network TuneIn is partnering with Red Bull Music Academy to bring its newly relaunched streaming platform, RBMA Radio, to TuneIn’s millions of monthly active users. Beginning Thursday, TuneIn users in the U.S. and Canada have access to RBMA Radio, a 24/7 station with programming from six continents.

Edison Podcast Metrics has unveiled the top 10 podcasts popular among Black listeners in the US, based on its latest data. The Infinite Dial 2023 reports that 45% of Black Americans aged 12 and up listen to podcasts each month, with 28% tuning in weekly.
