KEXP Making Changes
Seattle-based public radio station and nonprofit arts organization KEXP 90.3 FM is changing its line-up July 27. Other moves involve changes in KEXP's creative and content teams, and the addition of two new full-time leadership positions.
Charles Renwick Passes
Radio veteran and former Radio Ink Account Executive Charles "Chuck" Renwick has died. He had been hospitalized for pneumonia, complicated by oropharyngeal cancer.
WBAL Launches New Morning Show
Clarence M. Mitchell IV, known to audiences as C4, and Bryan Nehman have been paired for a new morning show on WBAL NewsRadio 1090/FM 101.5. The pair of Baltimore radio vets hosted separate shows on the Hearst station.
NYSBA Announces 2020 HoF Class
Two radio broadcasters have been named to the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. The 2020 class was selected from nominations submitted by NYSBA members.
BIN Adds Roland S. Martin
Journalist and Commentator Roland S. Martin will be heard on the Black Information Network. According to BIN originator iHeartMedia, Martin will create custom commentary segments that can be heard daily.
Lauryn Snapp Adds On-Air Duties
CMT Radio’s Digital and Social Producer Lauryn Snapp is joining radio and CMT personality Cody Alan. Premiere Networks has added Snapp for CMT After MidNite with Cody Alan and CMT Radio Live with Cody Alan.
Virus Sends WHUR Host To Hospital
Patrick Ellis, host of 96.3 WHUR-FM's Gospel Spirit Show has been hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19. Ellis has been hosting for more than 40 years. He is the recipient of many awards including NAB Radio Host of the Year.
Palana Promoted To PD, Providence
Hall Communications is promoting Kevin Palana to PD at Cat Country 98.1 (WCTK-FM). Palana will also be the program director of New Bedford’s Classic Hits BIG 101.3 (WNBH).
Todd Fries Passes
Todd Fries, former GSM for Carter Broadcast Group, Kansas City, has died. Fries also spent time with iHeartMedia in Madison. He's the son of the late Gary Fries, former RAB President/CEO.
Golic Staying With ESPN
According to Adam Schefter, when Mike Golic ends his run on ESPN Radio at the end of this month, he will become a college football analyst with the network. Golic was a college football analyst with the network before moving over to the radio side.
