NY Festival Radio Awards Shortlist
The New York Festivals® Radio Awards competition has announced the 2022 Radio Awards shortlist across 14 category groups. The United Kingdom led with 75 entries shortlisted followed by the United States with 57, Ireland with 56 and Canada saw 35 entries.
BEA Rankings Released
The Broadcast Education Association has released the first annual rankings of schools based on the creative achievement of their students. The rankings are founded on the results from the BEA Festival of Media Arts; an international media competition focused on student and faculty creative endeavors.
The Take On Films
Sony Music Entertainment’s Global Podcast Division has formed a podcast partnership with film critic Mark Kermode and movie fanatic Simon Mayo. "Kermode and Mayo's Take" will be a twice weekly podcast series focusing on theatrical, streaming and physical film releases.
Bryan Broadcasting Texas Changes
Robbie Mack has been named Program Director at Candy 95 (KNDE-FM) College Station, Texas Station. Ted Hallowell, who has been filling in mornings since the first of the year; now has the job full-time.
Travis Moon Joins CMG Houston
Cox Media Group Houston has hired Travis Moon as Director of Operations. Moon joins CMG from Cumulus KUBL-FM Salt Lake City.
WBT Sets New Morning Show
News Talk WBT AM/FM Charlotte is teaming Beth Troutman with Bo Thompson for Good Morning BT. Troutman is a veteran news anchor, multiple Emmy-winning documentarian, television host, and former Congressional candidate.
Nielsen Wearable’s to Be Rolled Out This Year
The ratings firm told clients Thursday that after a "gauntlet" of multi-year testing, it's new wristband, clip and pendant are reliable and ready for rollout. Nielsen says 50-75% of its panel should be equipped with the wearables by the end of this year.
Community Radio Station Turns 65
WTJU in Charlottesville has a big birthday celebration planed for its 65th, with three hours of special programming today, including an audio documentary about the station and four live performances.
Documentary Marks 100 Years
KSL News Radio, Salt Lake City, will mark its centennial broadcasting a documentary "KSL Radio 100". The documentary will be simulcast with KSL-TV on Saturday April 2.
Big Shoes To Fill For Mr. Rice
Also late Thursday, iHeartMedia announced that Jeremy Rice has been named Program Director for XL1067 (WXXL) and Magic 107.7 (WMGF) in Orlando. Rice replaces Brian Mack, who was promoted to iHeartMedia’s National Programming team.
