After 42 years on the air, the syndicated America in the Morning signs off for good today. September 18 marks the final broadcast of the program, which debuted in 1984 with Jim Bohannon on the Mutual Broadcasting Network, as Westwood One retires the program.
Anchor and Meteorologist John Trout has hosted America in the Morning since 2015, when he succeeded Bohannon. The show’s weekend companion program, America This Week, is also ending.
Westwood announced to its affiliates that America in the Morning would be replaced by a morning edition of Dan Bongino’s Bongino Report, who has returned to radio after resigning as FBI deputy director earlier this year. The AM edition is set to launch the following Monday, September 21.
Trout said, “I want to thank the many correspondents, producers, management, and talented people who have contributed to AITM, helping us craft our daily, nonpartisan news broadcast over the years. I’m especially grateful to the hundreds of radio stations that carried our show.”
