(By Buzz Knight) A crisis demands action. Hopefully it delivers the correct actions. As we mightily battle the new challenges and try to create new opportunities, the speed of our actions without question is vital.

(By Randy Lane and Jeff McHugh) Why are your phones not ringing? The pandemic has made it more difficult to get callers to respond before 8AM. If you’re doing your show from home, getting phone calls on-air is about as challenging as getting the new stimulus package through Congress.

That's what Westwood One's Pierre Bouvard concludes in his latest blog posting following a recent Nielsen customer webinar which he attended. The COVID crisis had people stuck in their homes, not driving to work, and radio listening took a hit as a result. Bouvard says things are starting to return to normal.

Again, this comes as no surprise with the government mandated shutdown of the national economy earlier this year. Entercom's Q2 revenue was down 54% with April being the bottom.

That familiar - and very ancient - teletype sound behind news stories is gone from the KYW Philadelphia airwaves. It's something listeners have been hearing for many decades. KYW Brand Manager Alex Silverman went on Twitter and explained why he pulled it.

ABC News Radio will offer three hours of coverage each night of the DNC from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. ET. Aaron Katersky and Karen Travers will anchor with reporting from Alex Stone, Ryan Burrow, and Jim Ryan. The convention is Monday, August 24 through Thursday, August 27.

JJ Yorehas resigned as General Manager of WAMU in Washington DC. A position he has held for 6 years. A task force is also being established to make work culture improvements at the station.

WWJ News Radio 950, is launching Breaking Down Barriers, August 10. The Entercom station says the initiative is to elevate diverse voices in the communities it serves.

Teresa Lukens will take over as the new co-host of the 920 News Now morning show on KXLY-AM in Spokane at the end of August. Lukens has been a fixture in broadcast journalism in Spokane for 20 years.

104.5 The Zone Morning Show Producer Jonathan Shaffer has been appointed Assistant Program Director. Shaffer has 14 years of experience in the Music City market.
