The Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio organization has announced is has officially become a 501(c)(3) charitable entity. The volunteer organization includes top-level female radio professionals who use their experience, influence, and resources to help other women in radio develop management and leadership skills.
Tech Survey Webinar This Thursday
The annual examination of everything tech will take place Thursday at 2PM Eastern. Jacobs Media says over 42,000 listeners from 470 radio stations participated in the survey this year.

WCCO Legend Passes
Howard Viken passed away Saturday morning at the age of 97. Viken joined WCCO in Minneapolis in 1950 and began a 39-year run for the station. Viken became one of the most recognized names in the state of Minnesota. Viken, a Marine, fought in World War II in the Battle of Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima.
Host Tats Up…Then Gets Fired
WIL St. Louis host Mason Schreader got a tattoo of the radio station he worked for one week before he was fired. Schreader hosted mornings on the “Mason & Remy Show” with Zachary Hoesly. He posted this picture to Twitter with the comment: “Hahahahahhahhahahhahahha I just got fired.

Johnson Is Moving To Raleigh
Curtis Media Group has hired Matt Johnson as PD of PULSE-FM (WPLW/WWWPL) in Raleigh. Johnson has programmed stations in Naples, Salt Lake City and most recently, KSLZ in St Louis. Johnson replaces Jud Heussler who took a job with CMG in Jacksonville.
Top Honors For 90.5 WESA News
The 90.5 WESA newsroom is the recipient of eight first place Keystone Media Awards. The awards for the Pittsburgh NPR station were presented by the Pennsylvania News Media Association.
