(By Loyd Ford) A lot of talk focuses on recruitment around sales. Recruiting good and solid sellers has never been the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

This is Kevin McGuire around 1974 when he worked for a radio station that was piped through cable TV (call letters were not required by the FCC). Comax-Telcom was the company that gave the station its own cable channel to broadcast a Top 40 format in the Buffalo area. (By Buzz Knight) A few days ago, Sirius XM announced a partnership with Tik Tok as the satellite radio company along with Pandora will partner with the social video platform in creating new channels of distribution.

iHeartmedia Houston will be the official radio partner for The University of Texas football and men’s basketball programs. UT football and men’s basketball games will broadcast on Sportstalk 790 AM with select games broadcast on Newsradio 740 KTRH and KPRC AM 950.

iHeartMedia executives held a quarterly earnings call for the first time since before the company filed for bankruptcy in early 2018. Q2 revenue was up $21.6 million, or 2.4%, over Q2 2018. Digital revenue jumped $22.5 million thanks to podcasting.

This year the Uforia Music Series in-person shows will include Livestreams. The first 2021 Uforia Live program is set for June 6.

The Commission went on an East Coast pirate hunt and turned up the heat on four homeowners and one church, Thursday, giving them 10 days to explain why they are operating illegal radio stations. Florida and Massachusetts appear to be a nice little settling ground for pirates. How the church pastor responded to the FCC about the station will surely make you chuckle.

WTBG/WNWS in Brownsville, Tennessee raised $21,533 during the Christmas Basket Radiothon. Proceeds from the 36th annual event will be used to provide food and toys for about 200 families.
