Legendary Pittsburgh station, KQV, 1410 AM, is back on the air. The station returned after a nearly two-year hiatus earlier this week with a beautiful music/easy listening format.

Beginning October 10, 'Sports Huddle' will return to the Sunday morning lineup on 830 WCCO Minneapolis. Mike Max and Pete Najarian host the interview and call-in show.

June was a horrible month for Emmis, down 16%, which was just too much to overcome, even with July and August both up 2%. The awful June was blamed on poor ticket sales for Summer Jam in New York City, a signature company event hosted by Hot 97. On the bright side, Q3 looks strong for Emmis.

Procter & Gamble have made radio their secret weapon to beat the competition at a much higher ROI. Now the "tremendous friend to the industry" will be recognized for their belief, commitment, and advocacy for radio ads at the RAB's Radio Mercury Awards on June 8 in New York City.

The NAB has announced the 52 finalists for the 2021 Crystal Radio Awards. WHUR-FM Washington, D.C. will be honored with the Crystal Heritage Award. The Howard University station will be recognized for winning a total of five Crystal Radio Awards. A virtual awards program is set for April 13.

The latest revenue data from BIA Advisory Services details just how serious the damage was to radio from the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. The industry took a big hit last year due to businesses being forced to close, governments locking down and advertising coming to a near stand-still.

The new NAB conference is called the "Digital Futures Exchange" and it will be will be held April 17 at the show in Vegas. The NAB says this conference will showcase "emerging trends and best practices for broadcasters to leverage successful digital content strategies and drive new revenue." The conference will feature presentations by analysts such as Pew, BIA/Kelsey, and the Local Media Association.
