SiriusXM, NHL Extend Agreement Through 2029
SiriusXM and the National Hockey League have extended an agreement that will keep coverage of NHL games on the satellite and streaming radio platform through the 2028-2029 season.
Hubbard Flips KNUC HD-2 to Tulalip Sportsbook
Hubbard Radio has rebranded its secondary HD signal on KNUC (98.9 FM) in Seattle to Tulalip Sportsbook Radio. KNUC-HD2 is the first sportsbook-branded radio station in the country. Programming will be provided by VSiN, the Sports Betting Network.
WGH Flips to Fox Sports
Max Media's WGH (1310 AM, 100.9 FM) has flipped its format from business news to Fox Sports. The station is one of two sports radio broadcasters operated by Max Media in the market, including WVSP (94.1 FM), an ESPN Radio affiliate. Dina Franza will serve as the station's brand manager.
SiriusXM Returns Billy Joel Channel
The Billy Joel Channel has made its annual return to SiriusXM satellite and streaming radio, running from January 4 to February 2 on SiriusXM Channel 14 and on the SiriusXM app. The channel comes several weeks before the start of a tour featuring Joel and fellow musician Stevie Nicks.
WESA Pittsburgh Revamps Weekend Schedule
Pittsburgh's public radio station WESA (90.5) has released a new schedule that offers a wider selection of programs for listeners who tune in on Saturdays and Sundays. A spokesperson for the station said the schedule changes were based on listener feedback.
iHeart Reveals New Tech at CES
iHeartMedia has announced a slate of new voice assistant and automotive integrations for its free iHeartRadio app. The initiatives include several partnerships to integrate iHeartRadio content onto in-dash infotainment displays as well as one to build out an iHeart-specific voice-powered smart assistant.
WFZZ ‘The Fuse’ Launches in Wisconsin
Woodward Communications has relaunched its Green Bay adult contemporary station WKZG with an alternative rock format. The station, which now carries the call letters WFZZ (104.3 FM), stunted with a playlist consisting solely of parody songs from "Weird Al" Yankovic.
WNSB Launches New Morning Show
Norfolk State University's WNSB (91.1 FM) has launched a new morning show. The Fresh Start Morning Show features DJ Bee and Cheryl Wilkerson, who have a collective five decades of broadcast experience, along with graduate students Braxton Harris and Sam Burwell.
KHJ Finds New Life in American Samoa
A radio station in American Samoa is getting some local attention from a Southern California newspaper. Adult top 40 station KKHJ (93.1 FM) in Pago Pago took on its call letters more than two decades ago as a tribute to Los Angeles station KHJ (930 AM).
KUTX Celebrates 10th Anniversary
Public radio station KUTX (98.9 FM) in Austin is celebrating its 10th year as a full-power broadcaster. The music station launched in January 2013 after sister-station KUT (90.5 FM) became a full-time news and information outlet.
