Podcast Radio, a new radio format that transforms podcast content for traditional radio consumption, seems to be striking the right chord with listeners. According to a study by Coleman Insights, 81% of podcast consumers in the US are keen on tuning into an AM/FM that broadcasts handpicked podcast content.

Coleman Insights’ Pod Predictor service gauged the format’s appeal among a panel of 500 podcast listeners aged 18-64. The study found that Podcast Radio is universally appealing, with 25% of respondents saying they “Love it,” and another 28% expressing strong liking for the concept.

While the format was started in the UK, Beasley Media Group has already partnered with Podcast Radio and KMG Networks to roll out the US version. The current Beasley Podcast Radio stations are in Detroit (WCSX-HD2), Tampa (WJBR-AM), Charlotte (WSOC-HD3), and Ft. Myers/Naples (WXKB-HD2). The Podcast Radio format features live “Podjocks” such as former KROQ personality Gene “Bean” Baxter. The lineup includes top-rated podcasts from various creators like TedAudio, Wondery, and Evergreen.

Podcast Radio Founder and CEO Gerry Edwards commented, “This new data reinforces that strong, engaging, spoken-word content continues to evolve in exciting ways to meet the needs of U.S. listeners.”
