Spotify Toying With Video In Quest For Gen Z

Spotify is reportedly considering adding full-length music videos to its app as it aims to compete with YouTube and TikTok. The streaming service has begun discussions with partners about this new feature, signaling its efforts to establish video as a core part of its platform, per Bloomberg.

Spotify has already introduced features like “canvases” and “clips” to incorporate visuals into the music experience. The move is seen as a response to the growing competition for the Gen Z audience, with YouTube and TikTok offering full-length music videos and serving as important discovery platforms for artists. Spotify had previously ventured into video content through original series and partnerships with media companies, but those deals have expired.
