Former WCBS-FM PD Joe McCoy alerted the radio world this weekend that Don K. Reed had passed away. McCoy had known Reed since 1975 when they were both DJ's at WCBS-FM. Reed may have been most well known for his Sunday Night Doo Wop Shop. Art Vuolo put together a tribute video to Reed which you can watch HERE.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds declared Thursday, July 14 to be  “KXEL Radio 80th Anniversary Day” in the state. The station is owned by NRG Media.

WLZL-FM in Washington, DC has raised 246,720 for St Jude's Children bringing the total raised by the station over the years to $2.1 million dollars to cure Childhood Cancer. The $247K was raised during a one-day radiothon.

Former Emmis Communications Austin morning show and PD, Pedro Escalera has been hired by American General Media in Albuquerque to host the 7P to midnight shift at FUEGO 102.9.

KMBY-AM/FM in Monterey is 87 years old. The station, owned and operated by Hanford Youth Services, has set a community birthday party celebration for July 23.
