NAB Objects to Regulatory Fee Hike

It's the 3rd year your fees will be significantly increased and the NAB calls the FCC's plan unfair and unsustainable in a new 18-page filing. The NAB says the Commission is forcing broadcasters to subsidize the regulation of other entities that are either contributing less than their fair share of the fees or getting a free ride.

Warfield To Join Beasley Board

At its annual stockholders meeting on May 27 Beasley, 71-year old industry veteran Charles Warfield will be nominated to the Beasley Media Board of Directors. Warfield will replace former FCC Chairman Mark Fowler who is leaving the board after serving for 21 years.

These Fundraising Stations Are Legends

The three Legend Communications country stations of Wyoming -- KGWY-FM, Gillette; KZMQ-FM, Cody; and KLGT-FM, Buffalo-Sheridan, have raised over $100,000 with their annual St. Jude Radiothons. That takes the total raised over the past 11 years to more than $1.2 million.

Busted in Boston

The FCC continued its crackdown on pirates, announcing two more were found on Friday. Davina Mendes was caught operating a pirate radio station weekdays from 3-5 pm at 87.7 in Boston from a business building at 616 Blue Hill Ave. And Talya Andrea Lantz was cited for hosting a morning show at 101.3 in Boston from that same location. Both must end their broadcasts immediately and have ten days to respond the The FCC.
