Kent Sterling was a talk show host for five years, and have managed for 15, including PD gigs at 1070 the Fan and WIBC in Indianapolis and 101 ESPN in St. Louis. After being downsized out less than a year ago, Sterling wrote a book.

Tracey Johnson has written a Survival Guide for those affected by the recent round of layoffs. Johnson experienced this himself and wants to help. "I was terminated in 1988. My phone rang. It was Scott Shannon. He told me he'd been following my career and said this would be a good thing and offered help. That moment remains a career highlight."

Kudos to the team at Coloff Media’s KCVM-FM in Cedar Falls. The NAB announced on Wednesday that the station will receive its Crystal Heritage Award which recognizes radio stations that have won five Crystal Radio Awards for service to their local communities.

(By James Bahm) I’ve seen people get let go for myriad reasons, and yes, sometimes it comes down to budget and they could hire two people out of college for what the morning show host is being paid. But that in and of itself doesn't make it a good decision.

Variety's Chris Williams heard 2 female artists played back-to-back on Go Country 105 in L.A. He joked about what he heard on Twitter, wondering if someone was going to get fired for what he heard. The debate about fair airplay for females took off, including a lengthy piece in Variety by Williams HERE that includes a quote from our story HERE.

That's what KXNO host Andy Fales (pictured) told Rolling Stone about his fired, then rehired co-workers. Fales, and his Sports Talk show co-host Keith Murphy, were not part of the layoffs but decided to boycott their show for a day in support of six of their co-workers who were let go.
