Dana Withers, president of Illinois-based Withers Broadcasting and Dana Communications, has been named Illinois Broadcasters Association’s 2018 IBA/Vincent T. Wasilewski Broadcaster of the Year. The award, named in honor of Athens, Illinois, native Vincent T. Wasilewski, NAB’s 18th president, honors those Illinois broadcasters who exhibit the same passion and dedication to the broadcast industry as Wasilewski did. Withers is a past chairman (and current trustee) of the Illinois Broadcasters Association

“Dana is the consummate local broadcaster,” said Dennis Lyle, president and CEO of the Illinois Broadcasters Association when announcing Withers was the 2018 recipient of IBA’s most prestigious award. “From high school sports to local parades and festivals to local news, listeners count on Dana’s stations to be a strong supportive voice in their community.”

Withers will be presented the award during the Chairman’s Dinner, opening night of IBA2018, the Illinois Broadcasters Associations’ annual summer conference, June 5-6 at the Marriot Hotel & Conference Center in Normal, IL. Withers is the second in her family to receive the award. Her father, the late W. Russell Withers Jr., received the award in 2005.
