‘Unruly’ Sees Personal Care Brand Take Aim At Body Image

Personal care product company Harry’s, Inc. and its brand Flamingo have announced a provocative new podcast, Unruly, with Audacy’s Pineapple Street Studios. Led by Kimberly Drew, this eight-episode series delves into the subtle ways women’s bodies are subjected to regulation in various aspects of daily life, including social media, the beauty industry, and medicine.

The inaugural episode, “Social Media: The Body’s Big Brother,” invites body image coach Tiffany Ima to discuss the complex influence of the internet on women’s self-image with Drew. Unruly is poised to challenge and broaden the dialogue surrounding women’s bodily autonomy, leveraging Drew’s expertise and the insights of guests like journalists Jessica DeFino, Rachel E. Gross, and academic Dr. Marcia Inhorn.

Flamingo has been a staunch advocate of body neutrality, contributing over $1.5 million to initiatives supporting the cause since 2019. The concept encourages a balanced, neutral view of one’s body, in contrast to the more widely recognized body positivity movement.

Drew voiced, “It is always a good time to spark conversations about bodily autonomy. The shame we are taught is expensive in myriad ways. We’re at an inflection point, and I’m honored to be a witness to this cast of incredible thinkers and leaders helping us build a more Unruly world.”

Maggie Hureau, Head of Social Impact at Harry’s, Inc., emphasized, “As a brand, Flamingo promises to put women in control. We also know that there are many issues women face in today’s society that do not get the attention they deserve, creating an information gap that makes it difficult to make confident decisions around our own bodies. Unruly is a project we’re so proud to release, especially with a partner like Kimberly, a long-time advocate for women’s issues.”

New episodes are available for streaming every Wednesday.
