New data was shared at the Music Biz Conference in Nashville that sheds light on how many artists use digital streaming services to distribute music. According to data from media analytics group Luminate, approximately 120,000 new tracks are uploaded to music streaming services every day. This marks a 28.4% growth year over year.

If this number sustains, around 44 million new tracks will be uploaded to Spotify and Apple Music in 2023. This surge in music uploads is fueled by various factors, including the growing DIY movement, the popularity of cover tracks with altered speeds for social media videos, and the influx of AI-generated music.

The overwhelming amount of new music has raised concerns within the music industry, particularly among major labels over AI-generated content. Independent artists also face additional challenges due to limited resources, but they often translate any weakness into success by targeting niche audiences and cultivating dedicated fan bases.
