Barrett News Media has named WTOP (103.5 FM) in Washington, D.C. and WLW (700 AM) in Cincinnati as its top news-talk stations in major and mid-markets for the year.
The top station honor was the first to go to a station other than iHeart’s Los Angeles news-talk station KFI (640 AM) for 2022, Barrett said in a statement on Monday.
“BNM congratulates Joel Oxley, Julie Ziegler and the entire WTOP team on the well deserved recognition, as well as every other News/Talk station that earned a spot on this year’s major market list,” a Barrett spokesperson said. “BNM congratulates DJ Hodge, Scott Reinhart and the WLW staff on being voted number1, along with every other radio station that gained a spot on this year’s mid-market list.”
The designations were made by 44 radio programmers and industry executives representing 15 broadcast companies in 36 cities.
