20 Years Of Hair With Dee

Twisted Sister may have ridden off into the sunset, but their front man Dee Snider has made a very healthy career for himself as a radio host. In fact, Snider is celebrating 20 years and 1,000 shows with his national, metal radio show The House of Hair. The 1,000th broadcast will air Saturday, February 11. Since 1997, Snider has taken listeners, across nearly 200 stations, on a 3-hour ride into the best that metal has to offer.

Ron Rivlin, SVP Programming and Affiliate Relations, Sun Broadcast Group, said, “We are thrilled to celebrate Dee’s 1,000th show. The House of Hair with Dee Snider will rule for another thousand shows!”

Snider added, “When I started doing this show in 1997, Grunge still had a death-grip on the airwaves and ‘heavy metal’ was a dirty word. I wondered if anybody would be interested in listening to a bunch of ‘old hair bands.’  A thousand shows later, and in our 20th year, I guess I didn’t need to wonder. ‘Hair metal,’ as it’s so dismissively called, is not only the soundtrack of a generation, but the go-to music of whole new generations. It seems that the House of Hair and the bands and songs it represents brings back one very important, but sadly missing element to the music scene…F-U-N!  If it ain’t metal…IT’S CRAP!”
