iHeart Host Awarded $75K From Wisconsin

Dominic Salvia co-hosts a show called Devil’s Advocate, with Mike Crute in iHeart’s The Mic (92.1) in Madison, WI. JSonline has the details about the $75,000 taxpayers will have to fork over to the host after his arrest three years ago. Salvia’s settlement with Attorney General Brad Schimel and Gov. Scott Walker was reached after the host accused the government of violating his free speech.

Capitol Police were cracking down on a singing protest that has been going on in and around the statehouse every day for over five years. According to his lawsuit, Salvia was taking pictures of the protest in July 2013 when he was arrested. He argued his First Amendment rights had been violated because he was only observing a protest and not participating in one. JSonline reports that protesters began the daily singalongs in 2011 to protest Governor Walker’s cuts to collective bargaining.
