Crowl Announces Retirement

When Dave Crowl leaves the radio industry at the end of 2020, it will be after logging in 44 years. Crowl's final stop was as Market Manager for Cumulus in Cincinnati. During his career, Crowl was responsible for the operation of radio station groups in 147 markets, ranging in size from Chicago to Hillsboro, OH.

WBUR Announces Fellowship Winner

Earlier this year WBUR announced a call for entries for a yearlong newsroom fellowship designed to deepen the skills of an emerging journalist. A committee narrowed the pool to five finalists who they met in November. Hafsa Quraishi was chosen for the fellowship and will join WBUR in January. More HERE.

WRDN Durand, WI broadcaster Brian Winnekins is being recognized by the National Association of Farm Broadcasters as the 2020 Farm Broadcaster of the year. Brian served as the NAFB president in 2016 and is also a former regional VP for the organization.

Powerful Miami Host Dies

Armando Perez Roura was a popular host on Jorge Rodriguez's La Poderosa 670 Miami. Perez Roura died at the age of 92 from a heart attack. He fled Cuba in the 1960's and became a radio star, using the medium to argue against the Fidel Castro regime.

New Market Manager For Townsquare in Texas

Townsquare Media has hired Mason Benitez to run the company's Victoria Texas 4-station cluster. Benitez joins Townsquare from Cumulus where he oversaw sales in Beaumont, Texas and Lake Charles, Louisiana. He also worked for CBS Radio in Houston.
