Legendary Salt Lake City Broadcaster Passes
Albert (Gene) Guthrie, of Grantsville, Utah, has died of natural causes. He was 83. At the age of just 15, Guthrie found his love for radio and regularly rode the train to El Paso where he worked at KHEY AM while attending high school.

According to Mac, after having employees work remotely for 19 months, Cumulus Media Beaumont has eliminated their real estate footprint in Beaumont, and relocated its studios, office and staff with its cluster in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Madison Ends Hunger Strike
SiriusXM host Joe Madison has been on a hunger strike since November of 2021 hoping Congress would pass voting rights legislation. Now that it appears that issue is dead in the water on Capitol Hill, after 74 days without eating, Madison is throwing in the towel. Listen to his statement HERE.

Radio & TV personality Sam Alex’s inaugural Camp Broadcast Acoustic Concert was held this past Sunday, raising money for student scholarships to attend Camp Broadcast. Money is still being collected so the final tally is not yet known.

SummitMedia Knoxville Market President Chris Protzman is retiring after 18 years on the job. His final day will be February 1st. Protzman said he started his retirement discussion with CEO Carl Parmer last Fall and he's delighted with how all the pieces came together.

Bradford Caldwell has been hired by the National Association of Broadcasters as Vice President of Member Experience. Caldwell, a member of the NAB Board of Directors, starts his new job February 1, after serving as Chairman of the Arkansas Chamber of Commerce.

Hubbard Finds Ferguson Replacement in Chicago
Chris Petlak, afternoon co-host on WTMX-FM in Chicago is moving to mornings. The morning host chair has been open since Eric Ferguson quit in November 2021. Ferguson had been with WTMX for 25 years but left after multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.
