iHeartMedia says it has promoted DJ Pup Dawg to the position of program director at its Boston-based hip-hop station WJMN (94.5 FM, Jam'n). DJ Pup Dawg has spent his entire radio career with iHeartMedia, starting in Los Angeles before moving to WJMN in 2002.
Sergio Bustos to Lead WLRN Newsroom
Sergio Bustos will join Miami-based public radio station WLRN (91.3 FM) as its vice president of news in early 2023. Bustos will join WLRN after a lengthy career in reporting and editing, most recently for the USA Today Network.
KKBQ Picks Andy ‘Riggs’ Riggle for Morning Show
Cox Media Group's KKBQ (92.9 FM, 93Q) in Houston has picked Andy "Riggs" Riggle as the co-host of its morning show. Riggs brings over two decades of radio and media experience, working at stations across the country, including WXSS in Milwaukee.
Jeana Gondek Heads to Denver
Jeana Gondek has been hired to serve as the morning news co-host on iHeartMedia's KOA (850 AM, 94.1 FM) in Denver. She started her radio career at WOOD (1300 AM), the iHeartMedia news-talk station in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Results Hires Mark Zander for NorCal Stations
Results Radio has hired Mark Zander to serve as the classic rock format captain for two of its stations in Northern California: KTHU (100.7 FM) in Chico and KHRD (103.1 FM) in Redding. He takes over for Ron Woodward and Olivia Henderson.
Cumulus Promotes Lewis
John Lewis is promoted to Regional Vice President/Market Manager for Huntsville and Chattanooga. Lewis, who joined Cumulus Media in 2009, is promoted from his role as Market Manager for Huntsville. The company owns five stations in Huntsville.
Nikki Black Returns to Radio with KSAN Gig
Cumulus Media has hired Nikki Blakk to serve as the on-air host for San Francisco classic rock station KSAN (107.7 FM, The Bone). The hiring is a homecoming for Blakk, who started her radio career as an intern with KSAN while attending nearby SFSU.
Sandy Maxx to Host Afternoon News at WTMJ
WTMJ (620 AM) in Milwaukee has hired Sandy Maxx to co-host Wisconsin's Afternoon News with John Mercure, Greg Matzek and Debbie Lagaza. Maxx joins the station after a stint at Milwaukee classic rock station WKLH (95.5 FM).
Sessions Named Afternoon Drive Host at KKBQ
Cox Media Group says Lauren "Lo" Sessions — one of Radio Ink's "30 and Under Superstar" — has been named the new afternoon drive host and assistant program director/music director at country station KKBQ (92.9 FM, Q93) in Houston.
‘Matt Walsh Show’ Joins Daily Wire Block
Westwood One is expanding its partnership with conservative media outlet The Daily Wire to include distribution of The Matt Walsh Show, starting in January 2023. The Matt Walsh Show will continue to be offered as a podcast as well.
