Promotion For Garner As He Celebrates 10 Years
Word of another promotion from Impact Radio Group. James Garner has received the nod to be the new Program Director for the group’s Hot AC KZMG (My102.7) in addition to his duties as PD for flagship KSRV (BOB-FM). Garner joined Impact Radio Group in July of 2007 serving as the company’s Production Director.
Booker New PD For Wild 101.1
The Boise station has promoted Curtis Booker. He joined Impact Radio Group in January of 2016 as the evening host of WILD 101 and PD for Impact’s Hot AC KZMG. Booker moved from Wild’s on-air slot to take over afternoon drive on KZMG last fall
How Much Will The Beasleys Make This Year?
New employment agreements for four Beasleys were filed in an 8K Monday. All the deals are retroactive to January 1, 2017 and run through 2019. The man who founded the company, George Beasley, who is still the Chairman of the board, will be paid $750,000. CEO Caroline Beasley will make $750,000, President Bruce Beasley will make $550,000, and Chief Operating Officer Brian Beasley will also make $550,000. All are eligible for bonuses and restricted stock.
Newspaper Revenue Continues To Slide
In Q1 newspaper revenue dropped 3.8% to $5.85 billion from $6.08 billion in the first quarter of 2016. And while digital is up for newspaper industry, it is not able to offset other revenue declines.
New York DJ Charged In Sex Sting
WNYQ-FM host Tim Celeste was one of 12 men charged with trying to have sex with kids. Newschannel 13 reports authorities say the 12 men all wanted to have sex with girls between 9 and 14 years old. WNYQ is owned by Adirondack Broadcasting in Queensbury, New York. Celeste's bio is no longer on the station website.
Heather Birks. Making Radio Stronger
Heather Birks started working for the Broadcast Education Association in 2006, after working for the NAB for four years and NABEF for six. BEA is an academic media organization for educators, students, and professionals. BEA hired Birks, because in the six years she worked at NABEF, she helped build, manage and produce the Service to America Awards, and helped launch and run the Broadcast Leadership Training Program.

Pinfield Quits Mornings at KFOG
After just over a year as the morning host on San Francisco rocker KFOG, Matt Pinfield will turn over the morning mic to focus on his two nationally syndicated radio shows, the weekly rock history show, “Flashback” and the nightly show, “Two Hours”. Both programs are syndicated by Westwood One. Cumulus did not announce Pinfield's replacement.
Rogers Named iHeart’s Capitol Coast Area President
Paul Rogers has been named Area President for the Capitol Coast, which includes 4 stations in Tallahassee and five in Panama City. He'll keep some of his previous responsibilities as VP of Strategic Partnerships for the Florida Region and report to Linda Byrd, President of iHeartMedia’s North Florida Region.
