Entercom Flips Country To Soft Rock In Seattle

The changes keep rolling out from Entercom’s HQ in Philadelphia. On Monday, the company launched “The New 94.1 The Sound,” a Soft Rock format replacing Country format KMPS-FM. As part of the change, host Deanna Lee will be moving over to 100.7 The Wolf, Entercom’s Country station in Seattle. It does not appear any other employees have been asked to stay.

KMPS became part of Entercom following the merger with CBS Radio, and it appears the company would rather not have two competing Country formats in that market.

Pat Paxton, Entercom’s President of Programming said, “We are excited to fill this void in radio in Seattle and offer avid music fans a fresh new sound they can enjoy at work or as they go about their day. We recognize and respect all of the people who have been involved with KMPS and its rich and long history in the Country format. We are committed to continuing to provide the very best Country station with our entire team on 100.7 The Wolf. We are also excited to welcome back Deanna Lee to middays on 100.7 The Wolf.”

The new format will include soft rock hits from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. The station launched by playing 10,000 songs commercial-free.
