As the opening keynote speaker at the Radio Ink Hispanic Radio Conference, Tuesday, Para told attendees political candidates need to use radio and, he said, the R.O.I. candidates get from radio is huge. Popular singer, songwriter, and actor Jencarlos Canela stopped by the Radio Ink Hispanic Radio Conference on Tuesday to heap praise on the radio industry and program directors. Canela, who recently played Jesus Christ on Fox's original live musical The Passion, said his dream was to hear his song played on the radio. "It's every artist's dream. The first time I heard my song I cried. It was an incredible moment." Canela credited his popularity to radio having faith in new artists, setting trends, and being willing to take risks.

Radio Ink is proud to present the winners of the 2016 Medallas de Cortez Awards. The awards are named in honor of Raoul Cortez, who founded KCOR, the first Spanish-language station in the United States, in 1946. The awards ere handed out Tuesday night at the Radio Ink Hispanic Radio Conference in Ft. Lauderdale.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler went before the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, Tuesday, as part of an FCC oversight hearing. The only radio issue Wheeler spoke about was pirate radio enforcement.

The company creates a new position for Jeff Pezzano, Vice President of Sales. He starts April 1. Pezzano will lead sales for Cumulus' eight stations in Youngstown. Pezzano joins Cumulus from Dix Communications in Kent, OH, where he was VP for Advertising Sales and Marketing. Prior to that, he was Advertising Director for The Blade in Toledo.

101.1 More-FM/WBEB in Philadelphia has filled its vacant Afternoon Drive position with market veteran, Logan. He spent 12 years crosstown at Mix 106 and Q102 and for the past two years he's been PD and morning show host at WNCV in Fort Walton Beach, FL. He starts at 101.1 More-FM April 11th.
