Farmville, Virginia radio station WFLO will go off the air for good Friday after serving the community since 1947. The 2008 recession, changes to the national economy and the pandemic all led up to the need to close shop, according to the owners.

NPR has announced that Leila Fadel has been selected as the fourth host of Morning Edition, NPR’s morning drive time news magazine carried by 834 public radio stations, and Up First, NPR’s daily morning news podcast.

KOGT-AM, in the small town of Orange, Texas, will cease operations Friday, after serving the community for 73 years. Gary Stelly has owned the station for 30 years. He first worked at the station in college and purchased it in 1992.

Earlier this month, after 27 years in radio, Mathew Blades left the Mathew & Priscilla in the Morning show on iHeart's KMXP-FM Hot AC station in Phoenix. This week he launched a mental health podcast called Learn From People Who Lived It. Check it out HERE.

Long-time Chicago Bears beat reporter for ESPN radio in Chicago Jeff Dickerson has died after battling colon cancer. Dickerson's wife Caitlin passed away, also from cancer, in 2019. They leave behind an 11-year-old son.

The New York Post has all the details from the New York City sports ratings battle. The paper reports that when both over-the-air and streaming numbers are calculated, ESPN's Michael Kay wins the afternoon drive fight against WFAN's Carton & Roberts. All sports hosts in New York are looking up at WFAN's Boomer & Gio, who remain number one.
