The Academy of Radio Arts and Sciences of America has announced that KDKA News Radio in Pittsburgh is the recipient of the 2023 World Radio Day Award.

Cumulus Media's Dallas radio cluster raised $2.3 million for DFW Metroplex charities during 2022, $500,000 more than 2021. In Dallas, Cumulus owns six stations: KPLX-FM, WBAP-AM, KTCK-FM, KLIF-FM, KSCS-FM and KLIF-AM.

The Mellon Foundation has awarded Boston-based WGBH Educational Foundation with a $16 million grant to support the American Archive of Public Broadcasting. The program is a collaboration with the Library of Congress to digitize, preserve and make accessible historic and significant public radio and television broadcasts.

The Motor Racing Network is adding new radio stations ahead of a major motorsport event next month. The new stations joining the Motor Racing Network include WLS (890 AM) in Chicago, KLAA (830 AM) in Los Angeles, WNSP (105.5 FM) in Mobile and WNTA (1330 AM) in Rockford.

iHeartMedia and Fox Entertainment announced the nominees for the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Wednesday. The awards will be held at the Dolby Theater on Monday, March 27 and aired live on iHeartRadio and Fox television stations.

Nielsen's EVP/Managing Director of Local Television Catherine Herkovic will add the audio division to her list of duties at the ratings firm. Herkovic takes over audio for Brad Kelly who's leaving the company on Friday after being let go.

The call for entry for the 2023 Radio Mercury Awards has opened; the deadline for entries is April 10. Two dozen trophies will be awarded across 20 categories, with a final round of judges reserving the option to award a Best in Show winner.

The Glen Nelson Center at American Public Media Group has launched the second-annual Next Challenge for Media and Journalism. The competition seeks groundbreaking, for-profit and not-for-profit startups that will re-invent the media industry in the coming decades.

There's no doubt CES is back, shattering attendance expectations last week with over 115,000 people. That must have NAB executives smiling with the NAB show set to return to Las Vegas in April.
