Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has declared May 16 as RadioAlabama's 75 Years of Broadcast Excellence Day to commemorate the group's first radio station's anniversary. WMLS-AM, now WYEA-AM, was founded in Sylacauga in 1948 by four young veterans.
