Mix 106.5 (WWMX-FM) in Baltimore held its 31st annual radiothon for Johns Hopkins Children’s Center recently. The results were outstanding. $1.4 million was raised for the center, which is a member of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in Baltimore.

The Porterville Library in California was struck by arson last week, and in their attempt to save people and property, two firefighters, Cpt. Ray Figueroa and firefighter Patrick Jones, lost their lives. Local stations stepped in to help.

The National Association of Broadcasters announced the 50 finalists for the 2020 NAB Crystal Radio Awards. The awards recognize stations for outstanding year-round commitment to community service.

Mistress Carrie, as she is known by fans, started as an intern at Boston rocker WAAF back in 1991. Three years later she made the payroll in the promotions department, and in 1998, she was on the air covering the night shift.

Marc Guild, the son of former Interep founder Ralph Guild, has died. Marc's first job was in the radio business. He worked at Interep for years, holding many positions there including Head of Research, VP of Operations, and President of Marketing.

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai and NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith will participate in a keynote conversation Monday, April 20, during the NAB Show Welcome event in Vegas.  They will discuss communications policy issues before the FCC, including media ownership.

With revenue of just over $414 million in the fourth quarter of 2019, Entercom added just about $3 million to its top line compared to Q4 2018. For the year, Entercom says revenue was up 2%.

The Spanish-language media company has been entertaining offers since last summer. An investor group led by former Viacom CFO Wade Davis has agreed to acquire a 64% majority stake in Univision. Davis will become the CEO. The group includes private equity firm Searchlight Capital and ForgeLight.
