Study: Spoken Word Listening Up 20%
Edison Research and NPR presented the new spoken word data Tuesday which showed, since 2014, share of time spent listening to spoken word audio has increased 20%, while time spent with music decreased 5%.

Cumulus Digital Revenue Jumps 51%
Like most other public radio companies, digital revenue was strong for Cumulus, up 51% in the third quarter. Cumulus C-Suite business (local digital marketing services and streaming) both reached milestones in September, each booking over $2 million of revenue that month. Collectively, these revenue lines grew 40% in the quarter.
Digital Dominates Marketing Budgets
That's according to a new report released by Borrell & Associates. In this latest report Borrell focuses on the amount of money that goes into the cost of producing and managing digital, before a dollar is even spent on advertising.
Cumulus Same Station Revenue Up 3.2%
Excluding political the revenue increase is nearly 4% and CEO Mary Berner said overall the company "turned in another strong performance." Digital and network revenue were strong which helped offset weaker local spot revenue.
