YouTube Working On Shazam Soundalike That Works With Hums
YouTube is experimenting with a new search-by-song feature on Android, allowing users to identify a song by humming or singing it. Users can switch to “song search” feature and hum, sing, or record a song for three or more seconds.

Report: Apple Buying Shazam
TechCrunch is reporting that Apple may announce as early as today that it is acquiring Shazam, the app that identifies songs by listening to an audio clip. TechCrunch reports it has a source that says the price tag for Shazam could be as high as $400 million. Shazam launched way back in 1999.
Shazam, Sun Enter Multi-Year Extension
Sun Broadcast Group and Shazam have entered into a multi-year contract extension to continue their Shazam for Radio platform. The service allows programing and advertising content on radio stations across America to be recognized by the Shazam app, launching interactive experiences in real time on listeners' mobile devices.

Industry Caught Off Guard By Shazam Service
Other than the four companies participating in the announced new measurement service with Shazam, not many, if any, other radio companies knew about it. iHeartMedia, Cumulus, Entercom, and Cox say they will be a part of the service. According to BIA/Kelsey those four companies control about 1,500 stations across the country. We know for sure that Hubbard, Greater Media, Alpha Media, Beasley, Emmis, Connoiseur, and others, were not contacted about the new service and were caught off guard when they saw the announcement Thursday.
