One Detroit Radio Staton’s Glenn Frey Tribute Honored In Arizona

After one Detroit morning show took their tribute to a classic rock icon all the way from Michigan to Arizona in 2022, it’s been made an official part of that city by town officials.

Following the tragic passing of The Eagles’ Glenn Frey in 2016, Big Jim’s House from Beasley Media Group Detroit’s 94.7 (WCSX) honored the musician’s memory in his native Royal Oak, Michigan, with the introduction of Glenn Frey Drive. Then in November 2022, hosts Jim O’Brien and Ryan Logan transported their show from Detroit to Winslow, Arizona to permanently position a Glenn Frey Drive Street sign over Frey’s statue – a landmark that symbolizes the hit song, “Take It Easy”.

Recently, city officials in Winslow formalized the placement of the sign. Big Jim reflected on the venture: “This road trip was something we’d planned for years. Inspired by Glenn and the amazing statue established by our radio colleagues at KSLX, it was truly an inspiration to everyone here at CSX!”

Beasley Vice President of National Content and Director of Detroit Programming Scott Jameson expressed, “We’re happy to see Glenn’s’ legacy extend west to Arizona from its original location where he attended school, Dondero High in Royal Oak, Michigan. Many thanks to KSLX Program Director David Moore and the Hubbard team in Phoenix for allowing CSX be part of this cool Classic Rock tribute to Glenn!”
