Century Old Canadian AM Closing In Bell Media Cuts

After celebrating its 100th anniversary last year, Canadian AM CFTE is shuttering as part of sweeping cuts at Bell Media. The Vancouver station’s closure is part of a larger restructuring that will see six stations across Canada shut down, two sold, and 1,300 employees laid off.

Now serving as BNN Bloomberg Radio 1410, CFTE was once CFUN, and carried formats ranging from CHR to easy listening to talk. CFUN’s heyday came in the 60s and 70s as a rock station. Along with CFTE’s closure, Bell is also ended Vancouver-based comedy station CKST-AM.
