Edison Research has announced the launch of Edison Podcast Metrics UK, an expansion of its US Podcast Metrics product. The new service was introduced at the Podcast Show 2023 event in London. Unlike other podcast rankers that measure server-side downloads and audience sizes limited to clients of the measuring service, Edison Podcast Metrics surveys large populations to provide a more comprehensive listing of podcast show popularity.
Their survey method also avoids closed networks by including non-RSS shows. The UK surveying is already underway, targeting a minimum of 2,000 weekly podcast listeners aged 15 and older. The data collected will be available to subscribers in Q3, following the launch of Podcast Metrics UK in Q2. Edison Research expects the expansion to benefit the thriving podcast community in the UK.
