Denver Radio Host’s Opry Dream Comes True

Shawn Patrick, the Assistant Program Director and afternoon host at Bonneville Denver’s KYGO, made his Grand Ole Opry debut over the weekend with some help from an old friend.

When country recording artist Chancey Williams found out he would be making his Opry debut in Nashville on Saturday, April 22, he thought of Patrick. The two have been friends while both pursuing their careers in the Rockies for more than a decade now. Williams knew it had been a longtime dream of Patrick’s to announce at the Opry, so he made a deal for Patrick to announce him to the stage during the show.

Before the show, Patrick said, “I am beyond excited to be making my guest announcing debut at the Grand Ole Opry. The reason I work in radio today is because of my love for country music and its history. There’s no stage more iconic. A huge thank you to my friend Chancey Williams and his team for inviting me to be a part of their big night, and a heartfelt thank you to the Opry for allowing me the chance to grace their stage and live out my dream. To have the opportunity to be a part of this incredible tradition will certainly be a moment I will never forget.”
