Former Longtime Akron Host Passes

Stan Piatt was a staple in Akron radio for 35 years as host of the WNIR morning show.

Piatt’s career began in 1977 at WNIR, where he stayed until his retirement in 2013. In late 2017, Piatt was diagnosed with cancer and was told he had less than a year to live. He fought the disease into remission until it returned recently. Piatt was 68.

A post on the radio station’s website says Piatt is survived by his three children and a following of thousands.
