Several groups made last-minute decisions to keep their managers in place rather than go to Austin for the Radio Show, as the Category 5 hurricane targeted the state of Florida. Others were shopping for one-way tickets back to the state in case they need to head home early.
Groups in Miami, West Palm, Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Myers were preparing their clusters to deal with what is being called one of the biggest storms on record. Schools in the southern part of the state were already being closed Thursday and Friday, supplies were running low at big box stores, gas lines were long, and residents were evacuating north.
