McKay got his start in the business on Armed Forces Radio while in the Air Force stationed in Guam. He continued to work in radio across the country, becoming PD at 99.9 KISS Country in South Florida and then 92.5 XTU in Philadelphia. McKay died from complications from Parkinsons
The Legendary Bob Oaks is Changing Roles
After 27 years as the voice of WBUR Boston's Morning Edition, Bob Oakes will soon be stepping away from the anchor chair and in 2021 become a Senior Correspondent. He'll work on features, profiles and political reports. WBUR will conduct a national search to replace Oakes.
Chuck Custer Announces Retirement
A mainstay in the Albany, NY Capital District, Chuck Custer, will retire in December. Custer has been on News Radio 810 WGY for more than three decades.
Joey Mitchell Celebrates Anniversary
101.5 K-HITS (Classic Hits KCCL-FM) Sacramento helped Morning Host Joey Mitchell celebrate 50 years in radio. During the four day celebration Mitchell received hundreds of recorded voicemail well-wishes and an equal volume of texts, Facebook messages, and emails.
KYW Philly Revamps Line-Up
KYW Newsradio (1060 AM) is moving Denise Nakano to midday anchor and Jay Scott Smith to afternoon anchor. Ian Bush moves from afternoons to co-anchor mornings. And, one of the oldest radio stations in America, will start simulcasting on 103.9 FM November 23.
Ramsey Comes To SLC
860AM/KKAT, has added The Dave Ramsey Show, to its weekday programming lineup. The syndicated money talker debuts in Salt Lake City November 16.
Knoxville Host Dies
Midwest Communications announced on its Facebook page that WIMZ-FM host William Winningham, who went by the name Billy Kidd, has died at the age of 61. The cause of death was not listed. Winningham was inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame in 2018.
Ebro And Alpha Connect
Alpha Media and Superadio, LLC, have signed an affiliation agreement with Ebro in the Morning with Laura Stylez and Rosenberg. The show will air on the company's hip-hop stations in Portland, San Antonio and Amarillo.
iHeart Adds Tesh in Portland
iHeartMedia’s Portland AC station KKCW-FM in Portland, OR, has added the John Tesh Radio Show to its weekday lineup. Tesh will take over the evening shift at the station.
Gallagher Heading To Georgia
Conservative talker Mike Gallagher will be setting up shop in Georgia next month. The Salem syndicated host will launch the Save The Senate initiative at AM920 The Answer (WGKA-AM).
