George Reed of Media Services Group shared the very sad news that their partner and friend, Jerry Johnson, passed away following a lengthy illness. Johnson managed Media Services Group’s Minneapolis office. Prior to his 30-year station brokerage career, Jerry spent 14 years with WCCO. He was 72.

Cumulus Media Memphis announced that Scott Gaines will debut as Afternoon Host of WGKX-FM/KIX 106 Memphis on Tuesday. Gaines takes over for Mark Billingsley who passed away last month. Gaines said, “I can't even begin to explain the job and the shoes I need to fill. Mark Billingsley's radio equity in the city of Memphis is completely unmatched. I can only hope to do half the job that he did and garner a quarter of the respect."
Alpha Media in Palm Springs has named Paul Cashin PD at ESPN 103.9 Ooachella Valley. Cashin has been PD at K-News 94.3 (also owned by Alpha) for the past year. In addition, Alpha has signed affiliate agreements with the L.A. Dodgers and L.A. Lakers.

Daly XXL Communications, owners of 1510 WMEX in Quincy, MA, have hired Joe Shortsleeve who'll be joined by strategist Diane McNamara for a live, Monday-Friday show from 10 a.m. – Noon. They’ll begin February 1 and will replace the station’s current offering of Boston Herald Radio’s “Morning Meeting."
CMG Atlanta is adding a live and local voice to WSRV-FM The River. English Nick is the new night host for the station. Nick has been weekend and fill-in host on The River for four years. Prior to joining CMG in 2011, Nick worked at other Atlanta rock stations including WNNX, 99X, and 96 Rock.
CJ Lusk's weekday show will debut on KICKS 101.5 FM/WKHX-FM this Friday. Lusk was previously morning show host and Social Media Director for Q107.5/WHBQ in Memphis. Lusk replaces Ray Mariner, who has been hosting 10 a.m.-3 p.m. since Jenn Hobby departed.
