Longtime 96.9 The Eagle (KSEG-FM) Sacramento on-air veteran and current morning show host Charlie Thomas has announced his retirement. Thomas has been a station mainstay for more than 20 years.

Executive VP of Programming Bill Tanner passed away at his home in Birmingham Wednesday night. Tanner's career spanned nearly five decades, programming stations from South Florida to Los Angeles. Tanner had been battling health issues for quite some time. He was 76.

CMG Appoints Rob Babin SVP Radio

Cox Media Group has appointed Rob Babin SVP for Radio. Babin will be responsible for CMG's 65 radio stations in 11 markets across the country. He's been with Cox for 20 years and replaces Bill Hendrich who retired at the end of 2020.

Host Wins School Board Seat

The Birmingham Board of Education held a special election to fill a vacant seat. WJLD host Walter “Big Walt” Wilson won with more than 62 percent of the vote. Wilson received 480 out of 767 votes cast. WJLD AM/FM is owned by Richardson Broadcasting.
